The authorities on Thursday arraignment 7 guys in a Wuse Zone 6 Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for supposedly assaulting police officers on task and burning 4 lorries worth N3.7 million.
The authorities charged Shuaibu Iliyasu, Abdulmajid Ibrahim, Abdulrahman Lawali, Nasiru Alhassan, Abdulkadir Sanusi, Sanusi Suleiman, and Muktari Musa with 3 counts of criminal conspiracy, blockage of public servant while releasing their legal task and mischief by fire.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Dominic Abba, informed the court that the accuseds on Might 23, assaulted Insp. Joseph Ogeodo and 2 others, who were attempting to clear ab mishap scene on the Abuja– Niger highway.
He declared that the accuseds, due to the occurrence, mobilised, conspired amongst themselves and assaulted the police officers on task and burnt down a Toyota Camry with registration number KUJ 862 NZ, valued at N900, 000; a Chevrolet with registration number ABJ 270 XN, valued at N1.5 million which were taken by the Federal Roadway Security Corps.
He likewise stated that the accuseds burnt down a Nissan Almera, valued at N480,000 and a Mazda valued at N800,000
Abba stated the offense contravened the arrangements of Areas 97, 148 and 336 of the Penal Code.
The accuseds pleaded innocent to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Muhammed, confessed the accuseds to bail in the amount of N1 million each, with one surety each in like amount.
Muhammed purchased that the sureties should be affordable, trusted and should be a civil servant living within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the case up until July 9 for hearing.
