Cops arraign sexagenarian, 4 others for supposedly damaging IKEDC transformer


The cops in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned 4 individuals in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, for supposedly damaging Ikeja Electrical power Circulation Business (IKEDC) transformer


Hananawa Yusuf, 60; Blessing Edijana, 26; Sarakiya Bamidele,26; Theokeke Bassey, 30 and Anita Archibon, 40, are dealing with charges of damaging personal property and breach of peace.

They, nevertheless, pleaded innocent to the two-count charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Kenrich Nomayo informed the court that the offenders devoted the offense on Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. at Oluwole Estate, Ikeja.

Nomayo stated the offenders performed themselves in a way most likely to trigger a breach of the peace by damaging the transformer.

He stated the offenders, had actually asked IKEDC Service System to detach them from the transformer, however later on ran prohibited connections.

The district attorney stated that IKEDC Chief Gatekeeper, Mr George Iwo reported the case to the cops and the offenders were detained.

Nomayo stated the offense contravened the arrangements of Area 168 of the Crook Law of Lagos State 2015, (Modified).

Chief Magistrate T.A. Ojo confessed the offenders to bail in the amount of N50,000 each with one surety in like amount.

Ojo bought that the surety needs to be gainfully utilized with a proof of 2 years tax payment to the Lagos State Federal Government.

The Magistrate adjourned the case till Oct. 21 for reference.
