The Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), ofÂ Sarkin Pawa in Niger State, Superintendent of Police, Amos Aliyu, his Orderly, his driver and a Civilian businessman kidnapped last Sunday in the state have been released by their suspected abductors.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Austin Iwero Agbonlahor in a Press statement he personally signed andÂ made available to Journalists in Minna yesterday did not however disclose wether any ransom was paid before their release was effected.
Since they were kidnapped about a week ago, thereÂ had been no demand for the payment of ransom put to either the Police Command or their families.
The release stated specifically that â€œthe kidnapped Superintendent of Police(SP) and Divisional Police Officer, Sakin Pawa Division of the Command, Mr. Amos Aliyu and other four victims who were kidnapped on Sunday by some unknown gun men wereÂ rescued at New Kabula Forest, by Police Rescue Operation Team.â€�
The statement assured that the State Police Command has put in place sensitive security measures that will deal with any form of security threats in the state saying,â€�Already, all identified hide-outs of criminals have been noted and security personnel have been deployed to ensure their arrest and prosecuted.â€�
Meanwhile, the Command has sent a passionate appeal to members of the public to assist the Police with useful informations of suspected criminals in their midst and other hideouts in the state in order to stem the rate of crime in the society.
