Applications are open for Knight Structure’s Emerging City Champions program Emerging City Champions is a fellowship and funding program for young civic innovators with strong principles to enhance public location, motion, and civic engagement. This program is powered by 8 80 Cities and John S. and James L. Knight Structure.

They’re raising new voices in city structure and supporting strong tasks that boost communities. They are searching for future city leaders with ingenious choices that:.

Champions will get $5,000 in seed funding to perform one area task in one year.

A Four-Day Experiential Studio: The really first stop for program people is the Emerging City Champions Studio in Toronto, Canada. The four-day Studio prepare people with management training and helpful tools to perform their area task. Champions participate in site journeys, workshops, networking events, and enticing conversations by city structure specialists.

The ECC Network: Champions join a valuable and encouraging network of their peers from throughout the country. People get constant mentorship from specialists in different fields such as preparation, design, marketing, and more. 8 80 Cities and Knight Structure will expose people to possibilities for additional funding, professional advancement, and help.

All travel expenses are covered by the program.


The fellowship is open to any person with an innovative task principle and the drive to stand firm in amongst Knight Structure’s monetary investment communities.
Candidates may be activists, instructors, tactical urbanists, designers, artists, entrepreneur, and more.
They want different voices with fresh perspective, ability, and commitment to establishing vibrant locations and cities.
They are searching for tasks that respond to area requirements, construct on local homes, and are performed through collaboration.
Jobs require to address public location, motion, and/or civic engagement barriers in the area, and require to be based in amongst the 26 cities where Knight Structure invests.


Prospects require to be 19-35 years of ages at the time they utilize.
Prospects require to have the capability to travel to Canada from July 26 to 31, 2019 (the ECC Studio takes place from July 27 to 30).
Prospects require to perform their area task in amongst the 26 communities where Knight Structure invests.
Applications require to include a multimedia submission that describes their task (short article, video, slideshow, poster, and so on).
