Engage leaders in pipeline /surveillance jobs, Wilbert tells FG

By Destiny Eseaga

Leaders of Ikara Community, Ikpoba–Okha Local Government Area, Edo State have expressed concern on the recent news that the Federal Government is planning to collaborate with Host Communities of Nigeria, HOSTCOM, in the screening and engagement of 10,000 Niger-Delta youths for pipeline protection/surveillance jobs.

According to Lawrence Anirejuoritse Wilbert, “This new decision will be an avenue to engage our jobless youths to douse tension in the regions and also ensure that the oil and gas pipelines are adequately protected.   It is astonishing to read about the “10,000 youth employment in the dailies, without us being engaged, raising our concern on who selects, and the criteria used to select these 10,000 youths.

The Ikara Community leader appealed to the Amnesty Office to facilitate adequate data collation of communities and youths, demanding the inclusion of Ikara and itsekiri youths in Edo State, to be captured in the selection and recruitment exercise.
