Math is the science of numbers, quantity, structure, change, and space and we use it in our everyday lives. From using technology to cooking and paying bills, having basic math skills helps you effectively solve problems and work through daily tasks. There are two main divisions of mathematics, pure and applied. Pure mathematics is the study of the basic concepts and structures that underlie mathematics, such as algebra, geometry and calculus. Applied mathematics focuses on the study of mathematical methods that can be applied to real-world problems in the areas of, for example, science, engineering, business and computer science.
