NJC okays visit of Muhammad as substantive CJN

ABUJA– National Judicial Council, NJC, the other day, advised the visit of Justice Tanko Muhammad as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.

The legal body okayed Justice Muhammad to presume complete control of the judiciary after its emergency situation conference in Abuja.

Muhammad, who is the most senior jurist on the Supreme Court bench, had given that January 25, headed the judiciary as acting CJN.

He changed the erstwhile CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, who was suspended from workplace by President Muhammadu Buhari following corruption accusations levelled versus him by the Standard Procedure Bureau, CCB.

The NJC, in a declaration by its Director of Details, Mr. Soji Oye, stated it similarly advised the visit of 8 other Heads of Court.

Oye exposed that a previous President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Umaru Abdullahi, commanded the emergency situation conference.

He stated the council utilized the chance to urge state executives to begin instant execution of monetary autonomy for state judiciary.

According to the declaration, “the conference, which was at first commanded by Mr. Justice Umaru Abdullahi thought about and authorized the suggestion of its Interview Committee that evaluated the 2 prospects provided by the Federal Judicial Service Commission to it for visit as Chief Justice of Nigeria.

” Consequently, the plenary of the conference commanded by the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice I. T. Muhammad, advised to the guvs of Sokoto, Lagos, Anambra, Ebonyi, Niger, Taraba, Kano, and Jigawa states, 8 effective prospects for visit as chiefjudges and Grand Kadis for the states.”.
