Stand Up for Equality, Justice and Human Dignity

“We are all born equal and free.â€ – Article #1, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Human Rights Day is observed worldwide on the 10th of December. It pays tribute to the day the General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

This year marks the 69th anniversary of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights which was written by representatives of legal, diverse and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world. The Declaration proclaims the basic rights which everyone is entitled to as a human being, regardless of color, race, religion, sex, language, political or other opinions, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

Due to the Declaration and the world’s commitment to it’s values, the dignity and lives of millions have been uplifted and the foundation for a world with more equality has been laid.

No matter what your profession, background, race or religion, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights empowers us all. Without it,  we would not have a guideline or a stand to speak up for “our basic rights. Even though this declaration is practiced around the world, there is still a long way to go. Despite being written and constitutionalized 69 years ago, there are still many human begins all around the world who still do not have access to basic human rights.

In order to attain a world in which the words equality and fairness actually hold value, educate yourself about the ways in which you can help make this happen.
